Pick up from Cairo and transfer by air-conditioned car to El Fayoum Oasis in the Western Desert. Start the desert adventure with a 4x4 Jeep ride to Qarun Lake, and make a desert trip to Wadi El Hitan. Cairo day tours and Egypt day tours offer incredible opportunities to explore Egypt’s natural beauty. Wadi El Hitan is a protected area and a natural heritage site added in 2005 by UNESCO. Known as Zeuglodon Valley, it was discovered in 1936 and is located 35 km west of Wadi El-Rayan, deep in the western desert. It is an area filled with fossils, considered an open museum dating back 45 million years, with petrified whale skeletons, shark teeth, shells, and mangrove roots preserved in soft rocks. Visit the Fossil & Climate Change Museum, which showcases whale fossils, skeletons, and ancient sea shells, both outdoors and indoors in glass boxes.
