Petra is one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world, located in the southwestern desert of Jordan. Often referred to as the "Rose City" due to the pinkish hue of the stone from which it is carved, Petra was once the capital of the Nabataean Kingdom around 300 B.C. It is renowned for its intricate rock-cut architecture and water conduit system.
